Expansionist ‘BookArt’ masterclass at Arubastreet 1, Amsterdam
‘Start the year 2008 with a present to yourself’

Molly Ackerman visited Japan November/December 2007 for exhibitions/workshops in Hiroshima and Tokyo. During her trip she stayed in Saikouji, a Zen temple near Hiroshima City. This temple is directed by Zen master Soken Danjo-san. Molly is now painting live in the EAE gallery surrounded by objects she brought back from Japan. In 2008 her newest expansionist paintings will be exhibited in gallery 'Bianca in de Molen' (Wassenaar) and 'THE GALLERY Donkersloot' (Amsterdam).

Sunday February 10 2008 from 1- 6 pm

The objective of the workshop is to create an artist book or ‘BookArt’.
During the workshop Molly Ackerman will work together with the participants.
Demonstrating techniques with paint and other materials.
The beginning of any journey starts with the first step.

Programm
1 pm arrive and set up
1-1.30 introduction and demonstration on how to begin an artist book
1.30-5 ‘BookArt’ – painting experience - go with the flow
5 end workshop clean up
6 soup, drinks and snacks to enjoy
Paint without thinking. Allow the paint to talk to you. Let go at each second. Learn in a group by sharing and borrowing techniques from each other. Learn to see. Get involved in the process and not obsessed by the product.

During the Quantum Physics Manifestation on Wednesday March 12th 2008 at Gallery Donkersloot Molly Ackerman organizes painting workshops, to be are setup into a series of mini introductory workshops. These workshops are running all day and night, starting at 1pm 1+1/2 hours. with a 30 minute break between each workshop.1-1:30pm, 3-4:30pm, 5-6:30pm , 730-9:00 pm, 10-11:30pm. This way people can sign up for two or three workshops if they get inspired. Or call a friend to come down to join.More events will take place that day at the Gallery, such as a performance by Rik Spann, see his webiste."It's Not Coming Back To Me Now" this will be a time escalator.

Dank voor gisteren. Vanmorgen weer wat omgebladerd vanwege het drogen.
Grappig om te ervaren hoe je telkens weer anders aankijkt tegen de
dingen die je soms wat bewuster en soms heel reactief gemaakt hebt.

Overigens: het werk dat ik bij de workshop van Molly gemaakt heb was in mijn ogen zo mooi en goed geworden, dat ik van plan was het te verwerken in mijn installatie in de Oude Kerk. In een heel klein onbewaakt ogenblik is de tas met het werk erin in de Oude Kerk gestolen! Een tas die ernaast stond met daarin een foto- en een filmcamera hebben ze laten staan, dus de dieven hadden wel verstand van kunst....hartelijke groet en fijn weekend,Rik Spann

Vond 't een geweldige ervaring die workshop van Molly!
De verf begint te drogen en het wordt nu echt een boek, wil 'm wel graag afmaken dus als ze nog een keer komt....doe ik graag weer mee.

Hoi Ella,
Tof dat de masterclass van Molly weer gaat gebeuren, maar wat jammer dat het is op een dag dat ik moet werken. Het is ook nog eens de Grote Feestmaand, dus vrij nemen is uit den boze…
Maar de 8e ben ik er wel gewoon, en dan zal ik evt. ook wat meenemen van wat ik aan het doen met Molly’s workshop als inspiratie, als je dat leuk vindt.
En heb je het emailadres van Molly voor mij, tenminste, als zij dat okay vindt? Ik wil haar nog steeds even bedanken voor de mooie middag, ook heb ik een paar vraagjes aan haar t.a.v. materialen e.d.
